The Route

Posted by dl_fitzhenry | Uncategorized | Sunday 27 July 2008 5:40 pm

This is the route we took. Note the large ‘S’ shape is due to the tides taking us first to the East then back West and finally East again. The start was at Abbots Cliff  at 4:11am, finish at Cap Petite Blanc Nez at 6.29pm - swim time 14hrs 18mins.

The swim has been a success!!!!!     14 hours and 18 minutes. At aproximately 6-30pm  Lee touch land in France, thus completing their challenge. In the last part of the swim they caught up an hour to keep them on their target. This was no mean feat as they had to overcome sea sickness and cramps.

Well Done everyone.. What a Family!!!!!!!

Dover here we come to welcome the heroes home.

We thought Paul had it in the bag, but just because you can see the coast doesn’t mean it’s close!  Neal’s now in the water until 18:11…. will he be the FitzHenry to touch the french land?  Only time will tell…. watch this space!
